How can i tell if my clutch needs a replacement?
The first symptom of a clutch pack issue is shaking when changing lower gears, for example if you are accelerating in 1st on a heal under load and feel a shake when changning to 2nd gear.
The next symptoms, are a spanner sign on the display, and one of the following fault codes:
P177A\B – Clutch 1\2 Tolerance Limit Reached.
P189A\B – Clutch 1\2 Clearence Tooo Small.
What clearence and Tolerance are we talking about on DSG Clutches?
When replacing the clutch pack on DSG transmission, a set of special tools is required to adjust the clutch. the adjustment is measured by 0.Xmm, and when the clutch pack is installed, you have to verify the clearence with a micrometer dail gauge. these is a very precise job that is not usualy required on vehicle industry, but is very important here to insure the comfort of operation, and long life for the new clutch. The clutch pack wear differs from one driver to another, and the normal clutch life is 150000km only, as the tolerances are so small.
